I found an interesting article recently titled "Biodegradable Sneakers Could Revolutionize Sustainable Fashion"

On the whole, this is an interesting article, but I think to say that this will "revolutionize sustainable fashion" is perhaps a little misleading.
Sustainable fashion is much bigger than this, and the idea of recyclable of biodegradeable materials/items in clothing is not new - it's been around a while. Whilst I can believe that this is a first in the shoe-industry (interested in how they manage to get a sole that won't degrade until you're ready to throw the shoe out!), it's not new in the clothing industry, if you know where to look.
There is clearly wide range of opinions, and views on exactly what is meant by sustainable fashion, or eco fashion, (some prefer the title sustainable clothing). The question is, does the definition matter? Clearly it's important that we understand the ethos, but I question the need for definition. What matters is "the spirit of the law", rather than the letter.
My current view is that we should all be doing our bit, and recognize that every little bit helps. If insisting that our clothing is made from organic cotton means we can reduce the amount of pesticides being used today, then that's got to be a good thing. We should also all be aware that hype, and "jumping on the band wagon", and also mis-direction are prevelant in any new(ish) arena - so be careful, and make sure that it's for real. Not all "organic cotton" is what we believe it to be!
Those are my thoughts, hope they help someone!
